Click here to communicate about the specific needs of your school or inquire
about rates. I enjoy hearing from you.

My teaching experience ranges from teaching creative writing with Writers in
the Schools (www.writersintheschools.org) to conducting small groups to doing
author presentations
in elementary schools for the past five years.

I can
try to customize my presentation to meet the particular needs of your
school and students. Some presentations that I have used over the years are:

Rhymes, Counting and Reading (Pre K and K): Lively give and take involves
riddles, and the kids add a verse to “How many Kisses do you want tonight?”

From the idea to the Library shelf (1st to 5th grade): the journey from the
conception of an idea to the published book.

The Life of a Writer (5th to 8th grade): the journey, the lifestyle, the triumphs
and the pitfalls.

I enjoy talking to groups of teachers, librarians and other professional groups
about my life as a writer and my journey to becoming one.

A full day presentation at a school would involve 3-4 presentations varying in
length between 30 and 45 minutes depending on the grad level.

A sponsor’s expense would include honorarium, travel expenses and lodging if
applicable. Neighboring schools can share the cost of a full day’s visit.

I am happy to sign any books that are sold during a school visit. Schools typically
order books prior to the visit from the publisher (at a discount) or from a local
bookseller.
